Registration Deadlines

New Yorkers must register to vote by certain deadlines to be eligible to vote in Primary and General Elections. There are also deadlines for making changes to your registration, such as changes to address or enrollment.

November 3, 2026 General Election Deadlines:

  • Mail Registration

Applications must be received by a board of elections no later than October 24, 2026 to be eligible to vote in the General Election.

  • In Person Registration

You may register at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year but, to be eligible to vote in the General Election, your application must be received no later than October 24, 2026.

  • Enrollment

Enrollment (Party Change): February 14, 2026. A change of enrollment received by the BOE not later than Feb. 14th or after July 1st is effective immediately. Any change of enrollment made between Feb 15th -July 1st , shall be effective July 1st. §5-304(3)

How to Change Enrollment: 
  • Fill out a voter registration form located at the Board of Elections office, or any local post office.
  • Fill out Online at our links below.
